For many years, Chelsea Guitars has been big part of the music scene in New York City, serving as a meeting place for musicians and guitar-lovers from all over the world.
Throughout this time, Chelsea Guitars has been a tenant in a building called the Chelsea Hotel. The building originally opened in 1884 as one of the cities first cooperative apartments but became a hotel in 1905.
Located at 222 West 23rd Street, this famous Hotel has been known throughout its existence to be the residence of many well-known artists, musicians and writers.
Notable long-term residents included Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Arthur C. Clarke, Dylan Thomas and Sid Vicious.
Many of the current generation of rock stars, luminaries and world-traveled music lovers continue to stay at this Chelsea Landmark while visiting New York, and Chelsea Guitars continues to be a landmark for musicians and guitar lovers all over the world.
Hotel Chelsea and Chelsea Guitars are still only a very small part of this historic district. The Gotham Comedy Club, El Quijote and the David Barton Gym are all on the same block.
If you are in New York looking for that rare and special Les Paul or Stratocaster, most likely you will find what you need at Chelsea Guitars.
